A revised tax rate on goods and passengers has been imposed by the state transport department with immediate effect, an official source said today.
The official source in the state transport department said that the department has made a revision of the existing taxes imposed on vehicles transporting goods and passengers under the Manipur Passenger and Goods Taxation Rule 1978 and the same has been levied with immediate effect.
Under the revised tax rates, the annual taxes are, for inter-state stage carrier (heavy) is Rs.3996 (which is payable at Rs.999 for every three-months), Rs.2940 for inter-state stage carrier (medium) at Rs.735 per three months and Rs.2000 for inter-state stage (mini) at Rs.500 per three months.
The break-up of the revised rates for different categories of public service vehicles are, for 38 seat capacity Rs.2640 (payable at Rs.666 for every three-months), medium buses of 24 to 34 seat capacity Rs.1896 at Rs.478 per three months and mini buses with 12 to 23 seat capacity Rs.1152 at ' 288 per three months and for 7 to 12 capacity seat taxi service vehicles Rs.1200 at Rs. 300 per three months and Rs1000 for six seat capacity taxis payable
Rs.250 per three months.
Taxes for goods carriages and auto-rickshaws run with petrol fuel has been revised at Rs.500 a year payable at the rate of Rs.125 for every three months.
The same for diesel run auto-rickshaws was revised at Rs.600 per year which is payable at the rate of Rs.150 for every three months.
For truck carriages, the revised annual rates are � for one tonner inter-state trucks is Rs.648 ( payable at Rs.162 for three months), for upto three tonners- Rs.1428 (Rs.357), for upto five tonners- Rs.1948 (Rs.487), for upto 7.5 to 9 tonners- Rs.3248 (' 812) and for 10 tonners-Rs.3900 (Rs.975).For 15 tonner trucks and above, an additional tax of
Rs.280 will be added for every increase of one tonne.
The department also revised the annual tax of water tankers.
For one kilolitre capacity tankers the revised tax is Rs.430 which is payable at an installment of Rs.108 for every three months.
The tax for three kilolitre capacity tankers is Rs.880 (Rs.220), for 7.5 kilolitres- Rs.1870 (Rs.468), for 9 kilolitres- Rs.2310 (Rs.578) and for 10 kilolitres and above- Rs.3520 (Rs.880) .
For local transport vehicles, the revised tax to be levied is for one tonner- Rs.600 which is payable at Rs.150 for every three months, for upto three tonners Rs.1320 (Rs.330), for upto five tonners- Rs.1800 (Rs.450), for upto 7.5 tonners- Rs.3000 (Rs.750), for upto 10 tonners Rs.3600 (Rs.900) and for that of trucks with 15 and above tonnes, an additional tax of Rs. 240 to ' 600 will be paid per tonne.
For reserved vans and cars, the annual tax has been hiked to Rs.1000 which is payable at Rs.250 for every three months, for Jeeps, Sumos, DIs and Tata Magics, the rate will be Rs.1200 which is payable at Rs.300 per every three months and that of school service vans it will be Rs.680 a year which can be paid tri-monthly at the rate
of Rs.170 .
