Timely rescue operation by 32 Assam Rifles prevented loss of life from a raging inferno at Singjamei last midnight, according to PRO Assam Rifles.
The PRO said in a statement that an alerted sentry on duty, Rifleman Rajendra Singh Negi from Chinga Post of 32 AR saw flames leaping from a house in Chinga Makha.
He raised an alarm and immediately and rescue party led by an Officer of 32 AR, rushed to the burning house.
The troops started fighting the inferno in a co-ordinated manner and saved the lives of the inmates from the three storeyed building belonging to Vijaya Devi, the statement said, adding the troops also assisted the fire tender in fighting inferno till 1.30 am.
