Imphal, May 24 2011:
Unhappy with senior officers being absent in government hosted state functions and dinners in honour of visiting state guests, the Chief Secretary has issued an advisory to the officers concerned to make sure of attending the events.
Senior officers of the state government were often absent in cultural programmes and state dinners hosted by the government, the advisory issued by Chief Secretary, DS Poonia observed.
It had become an embarrassment to the government when senior officers had failed to attend functions even though it was related to their respective departments.
All invited officers are duty bound to attend such functions, in time and in formal dress, as a matter of pride, the memorandum asserted and advised all administrative secretaries and heads of departments to attend all state functions including cultural programmes and state dinners hosted by the state government.
"A special responsibility is on the administrative secretaries and heads of departments linked with the visiting dignitary or delegation.
They should co-ordinate with the GAD, the protocol officer, security escort etc.
and be personally present to receive and see-off the dignitaries and also to be present at all place(s) of functions," the CS has advised the officers in the memorandum.
