The people begun to have an aversion to the act of people who are hell bent on disturbing the peace and serenity of the land day by day, the IGAR (S), Maj Gen AK Choudhury said.
He was speaking at a function on the occasion of the 175th Raising Day of the county's oldest Para-Military Forces, Assam Rifles today at Kangla.
The occasion was marked by paying of floral tributes to the departed soldiers of the AR wherein various ranks and files of the AR attended the event.
Maj Gen AK Choudhury, AVSM further said that the Assam Rifles will continue to perform its duty with professionalism to fight the organizations which are working against the law in the North East particularly in Manipur so as to bring peace in the land.
He said that the Assam Rifles have garnered the support and trust of the people due to its positive approach.
Maj Gen AK Choudhury also said that the AR will strive towards the return of peace in the land while also paying tributes to soldiers who have sacrificed their lives for the protection of the nation.
At the same time, the 11 AR organised a 'Run for Peace' and a football match in Tamenglong on March 23 to commemorate the 175th Raising Day of the Assam Rifles, according to a PIB (DW) release.
It said that Ms Jacintha Lazarus, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tamenglong district had flagged off the 'Run for Peace.' Large numbr of people participated in the events, it said.
A number of other events like cultural programme, folk dances, music competition, Jazz band competition and Barakhana for ex-servicemen of the area and troops are also planned on March 25 and 26.
