International Food festival kicks off

Imphal, April 22 2011:
The second edition of the International Food Festival commenced today at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen.
The 10 day food fair is being organised by the Innovative Youth Society in association with the Department of Tourism.
Tourism Minister TN Haokip, Tourism Commissioner KK Chettri and Art & Culture Director Dr K Sobita graced the inaugural function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Different dishes and delicacies are on display and sale for customers in a total of 35 stalls.
Participants include those from South Korea, China, Thailand and Tibet.
Kimchi, Kimbap and Sangupsal are well known dishes of South Korea.
Participants from Tibet presented Lambi.
Thai participants displayed Tomyam and Chinese participants displayed Shanghai Top and Beijing Dust on the first day of the festival.
Local dishes like Watin, Konggreng, Waikhu, Nganam, Laphu Singju, Nga Bora, Khajing Bora, Chengpak Singju, Chagempomba, Tharoi Thongba, Paknam, Chahao, Uti Asangba, Pakoura among others are also on display in the festival.
Moreover state participants displayed non vegetarian dishes of pork, beef, grasshopper, chicken, and boar.
The festival is scheduled to be completed on May 1 .
