Imphal, August 17 2014:
In solidarity with the pro-ILPS campaigners, All Manipur Night Super Bus Driver Welfare Association (AMNSBDA) and All Manipur Inter State Bus Association (AMISBA) have decided to suspend inter-State bus and Winger services for 24 hours with effect from 5 am of August 19.Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, AMISBA president L Angou said that they have resolved to pledge support to the ongoing agitation as it is necessary to enforce ILPS to protect indigenous people.
Contending that non-local population is growing fast in the State, L Angou directed the drivers not to pick up non-locals, who do not have proper identification documents.
Saying that it is high time to put in collective effort to protect the indigenous people of the State, Angou urged the State Government to work with a determination in this regard.
Meanwhile, a public meeting on ILPS was held at Sagolband Thingom Leikai.
Sit-in-protests demanding implementation of ILPS were staged at Lilong Arapti and Napet Pali.
