MPP for re-poll alliance in IMC election

Imphal, April 11 2011:
MPP today took a resolution for a pre-poll alliance with like minded parties to fight with Congress in the upcoming election to the Imphal Municipal Council, which is scheduled on May 25 .
The resolution was passed in a meeting of the party presided by its president Dr Nimaichand Luwang.
Leaders of the district committees and Kendra committees of seven Assembly constituencies within the IMC area of the party were attended in the meeting, a source in the party said.
The resolution passed in the meeting has been submitted to the working committee of the party for approval, the source added.
General secretary Y Iboyaima who is also the in-charge of the Imphal city unit said that today's discussion in today's meeting was mostly concentrated in finding a strategy to defeat Congress candidates in the fray by allying with other like
minded parties.
The meeting also resolved to ask party men willing to contest the elections to submit their applications on or before April 15 so that finalization of the list of the candidates could be done on or before May 5 .
On the other hand, a source in the BJP said that a meeting of the party scheduled to hold on April 16 will discuss about the pre-poll alliance with other parties.
The meeting will also discussed about the fielding of party candidates in the fray, party general secretary (media affairs) L Basanta said.
