MANIPUR POLICE Saturday solved a long mystery of some top leaders of militant outfits in jail still commanding their followers outside the jail with the arrest of one woman member of the Kangleipak Communist Party, Military Council (KCP-MC) on Saturday.
With the arrest of the woman member of the KCP (MC) outfit named Kineichong Haokip (26) daughter of Goumang Haokip, police come to know that one Nando currently lodging in jail is commanding its cadres in carrying out extortion from the general public and government officials, SP Imphal east Th Radheshyam said in a statement today.
The member was nabbed by a team of the police commandos unit of the Imphal east district today at around 11 am during a frisking operation at Lamlong Bazar along with two demand letters from her possession, the statement said.
From her disclosure during interrogation, they revealed that she has been engaging in serving and collection of money of the KCP (MC).
She also admitted that the amount collected by her and her group are handed over to one Nando who is in jail.
Manipur government, following tip off of some arrested militants in jail still commanding the outfits they belongs through mobile phone in carrying out extortion and threatening people has taken up security measure to prevent smuggling of mobile phone inside the jail.
Jail staffs were conducting daily frisking and checking by the CRPF personnel guarding the jail while entering the jail.
Authority is also planning to installation of phone jammers in the jail to block the mobile signal in the jail.
Another PULF activist named Md Manikhan alias Raju (35) was also nabbed by the Imphal east police commandos yesterday at around 10 am from Hatta Minuthong, the statement of the SP added.
