Imphal, April 05 2009:
The joint Coordination Committee, KYKL-UNLF has once again reiterated certain restrictions that had been imposed by the Committee in connection with the drive to save the society from extinction which were announced on December 11 last year.
A joint press release issued by Secretary, Publicity and Research, KYKL and N Ibochou, Deputy Secretary, Organisation, UNLF today stated that four resolutions were adopted at the Central Committee level of KYKL-UNLF to save the society which had been emasculated after the forced annexation of Manipur to India in 1949, to build national unity, to develop the society, to save the national identity and to build national character.
These resolutions were published on December 11 last year though a joint press release issued at the level of General Secretary of KYKL-UNLF.
The same resolutions and restrictions imposed then are being once again reminded, today's press release stated.
That, KYKL-UNLF will face, using all strength and wisdom with the help of the people, every policy and programmes launched against the co-existence of all communities.
That, the society which had its own sound social norms will be rebuilt by reinvigorating it.
All challenges and obstructions to this will be suitably opposed.
That, in order to stop the destructive impact on the national identity caused by the endless influx of migrants, all vehicles bringing the migrants in to Manipur from outside will be burnt down, the drivers who drive the vehicles will be given severe punishment, and action will be taken to identify the migrants and make them go back to their own places.
That, in order to revitalise the society which had been made impotent by the evil influences that come along with the colonial rule, a mindset will be created to live independently using our own resources giving up the mentality of dependence, the joint press release stated.
According to the press release, the restrictions imposed earlier are: no individual/group/organisation/party may organise grand feasts and programmes other than those related with social and religious traditions.
No individual/group/organisation/party will be allowed to hold drinking and eating parties that destroy moral character in order to use them (the persons) for their own purpose.
With the objective of achieving their own selfish gains, no individual/group/organisation/party will be allowed to distribute money and gifts free of cost without labour in return and that creates greed in people's mindset and that undervalues life.
And anyone who is found clandestinely or openly defying these restrictions will be given severe punishment without warning, the joint press release informed.
The KYKL-UNLF took the above decisions with the objective of saving the society which has been ruined by the egregious effects of the killings along with other policies adopted by the colonial rule, the joint press release stated.
Lastly it appealed to the people to support the steps being taken by the KYKL-UNLF.
