Dharti, a collection of 10 short stories translated from Manipuri to Hindi by Assistant Prof of Hindi Department, MU Dr E Vijay Lakshmi has been released during a function held at the committee room of the University today afternoon.
Pro VC of the University Prof H Nandakumar Sharma and Dean of School of Humanities Prof Oinam Ibochaoba Singh attended the book releasing function as chief guest and president respectively.
Reader and Head of Department (Hindi) of DM College of Arts Dr Kshetrimayum Premila presented a critical appreciation of the book.
The book comprise of the Hindi translation of the Manipuri short stories written by Elangbam Sonamani Singh, MK Binodini Devi, Thoudam Netrajit, IS Kangjam, Shijagurumayum Nilbir Sharma Shastri, Elangbam Dinamani Singh, Hijam Guno Singh, Nongthombam Bribiren, Lanchenba Meetei and Nongthombam Kunjamohan among others.
Dharti has been published by Parilekh Prakash, Nazibabad, Uttar Pradesh.
It is the second translation work of Dr Vijay Lakshmi.
Her first translation work titled Parbat Ke Par had won the translation award of Maharashtra.
