In remembrance of the war heroes of the last war of Manipur independence, the battle of Khongjom on its 118th anniversary, AMSU also organized various functions today.
AMSU, Imphal west committee organized a function at Little Master Higher Secondary School, Samurou.
Paying floral tributes to the portraits of heroes of the battle of Khongjom fought between the warriors of Manipur and the mighty British East India Company marked the occasion.
The function was graced by adhyaksha of the Imphal west S Sobakiran as chief guest, vice president AMSU headquarter Kh Khaba presided the function which founder member of the school, M Thoiba attended as guest of honour.
Another function was also held at GP Women College, Imphal.
The function was graced by member of the Manipur Human Rights Commission, Ng Nongyai, president, AMSU Irengbam Jamesbond as president, advocate Bheigyachandra Samuphaba also attended as guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MHRC member Nongyai said the then warriors of the Manipur kingdom fought the war inspite of knowing the fact that they would be defeated.
They fight till the last minute.
Such spirits of loving motherland need to be posses by today's generation.
Only then the state could march ahead with the development.
In Bishnupur district also another function in connection with the occasion was held at Bishnupur School organized by AMSU, Lamhangdong branch.
Retired vice principal of the CI College attended the function as chief guest and AMSU headquarter, general secretary, Md Alamgir and retired CMO, Bishnupur Dr Ksh Madhumangol as predient and guest of honour respectively.
