New Delhi, April 22 2009:
A day after a five-year-old girl from Nagaland was raped raped and murdered in Mahipalpur in South Delhi, two more cases of rapes were reported on Saturday.
In the first case, an eight-year-old girl was found raped and abandoned in a desolate area in Shalimar Bagh on Friday night.
Police said the victim, whose family lives in slum cluster in Shalimar Bagh, had gone missing from her home on Friday evening.
When the police found her, the minor was barely three kilometres from her house and was reportedly bleeding.
She was rushed to Babu Jagjeewan Ram Hospital where tests confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.
The child was later on shifted to a shelter.
"After some counselling, the child gave her father's name and describe where she lived.
Based on that, her parents were located," said a police officer.
Police said the child also described the people who allegedly raped her and were trying to apprehend them.
"Someone known to the child seems to be involved," said the officer.
In the second incident, a 15-year-old girl was reportedly gangraped inside the premises of an ashram in Pratap Vihar, Vijatnagar, in Ghaziabad on Saturday.
The girl was alone at her house inside Maa Amritanandmai Ashram campus.
Superintendent of Police (City) Anant Dev said the girl was alone at home when three men barged into her house.
"The girl said one of the men raped her while the other two helped him.
We have detained Yogesh Jatav, Sandesh Jatav and Sumit Goel as the accused," he said.
The girl was taken for medical tests and the report is awaited.
The ashram officials were not available for comment.
