Imphal, October 18:
Deploring continued bloody clashes between the rival factions of the NSCN in Zeliangrong region, Rongmei Naga Baptist Association lamented that neither of the armed factions are paying heed to genuine outcry of the people to cease violence.
"It is high time the revolutionary parties come of age and shun violence in the Zeliangrong region for the sake of the long suffering people lest more unfortunate incidents may occur with the loss of public patience," cautioned the Assn while reminding that Zeliangrong people too have the right to live in peace and dignity.
RNBA also conveyed strong resentment over the fact that those killed, maimed or harassed as a fallout of the internecine killings had not been extended ex-gratia and construed such aptitude of all concerned as a form of human rights violation .
Innocent civilians injured/killed in the factional clashes have been detailed as injuries suffered by R Gailumliu (17) of Makuai village (Sept 14, 2006 at Makuai village) and Meithonpingbou (27) of Phumjang village on Sept 19 and killing of a 75 year old woman in the latter incident.
