17th AMASI skill course begins

Imphal, February 17 2011:
The 17th Skill Course of the Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI) and Fellow of Minimal Access Surgeons (FMAS) examination have began today at the auditorium of Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Langol, Imphal.
A total of 47 surgeons from Manipur and other states of India are participating in the course which will last for three days.
Out of the 47, 30 participants are from Rajasthan, Pune, Vellore, Hyderabad and Assam.
The course is being organised for the first time in North Easter India.
MLA Dr Ng Bijoy, Dr Dilip Gore, President AMASI, Dr H manihar, Chairman Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) Manipur State Branch, Dr Kh Palin, Managing Director Shija Hospital and Research Institute graced the inauguration function as presidium members.
Speaking in the occasion, Dr Dilip Gore said that the skill course is specially designed for practicing surgeons who do not have much time to learn new skills.
There are around 1200 surgeons in the country who have passed the FMAS examination.
The examination will be held three to four times in a year.
