Imphal, May 10 2010:
The Army have cleared the barricades of boulders and trees put up across several points on NH-39 up to Senapati, claimed SPF spokesperson and Sports Minister N Biren
today.
Speaking to media persons about the Cabinet meeting which was held today to study the restless situation prevailing in the State, consequent upon NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah's attempt to visit Manipur, Biren conveyed that the State DGP was informed by his Nagaland counterpart not to send vehicles of Manipur to or through Nagaland in view of the situation prevailing in the neighbouring State.

At this, the State Government has asked the Government of India to allow passage of Manipur vehicles through Nagaland with police or para-military escorts.
To a question raised by reporters, the SPF spokesperson said that Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, during his recent meeting with the Union Home Minister, Defence Minister and the Finance Minister, hinted that the State Government would consider lifting the ban on Muivah's entry to Manipur if he abandons the demand of greater Nagaland and sovereignty.
If Muivah's homecoming is really devoid of any political agenda and has sincerely set aside the intention to disintegrate Manipur, due arrangement may be made to receive him at Mao Gate together with the people.
If this was the case, the State Govt's stance on Muivah's visit to Manipur might have been otherwise.
The meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi and attended by the Chief Secretary, DGP, Commissioner (Home), GOC 57 Mountain Division and IG AR (South) discussed about withdrawing security forces currently deployed at Mao in phase manner.
