Police are behind the empty cartridge bearing no.71182 even though they denied that Naorem Prakash sustained injury in his right eye by a bullet fired by them, sources said.
After the Singjamei police asked the family to hand over the empty cartridge to them, family members and local residents are receiving frequent phone calls to hand over the cartridge, according to the locals.

The locals wanted to know why the police were demanding the empty cartridge even though they have denied that Prakash got the injury in police firing.
They also demanded appropriate action to be taken if they know the policeman who fired the bullet cartridge bearing no.71182 .
Meanwhile, family of the seriously injured Naorem Prakash who had lost his right eye is getting ready to carry him at New Delhi for medical treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), said the protestors participating in the sit-in protest staged at Langadabal Kunja today defying the curfew.
Twenty year old Prakash of Langthabal Kunja sustained severe injury at face and eyes allegedly in the police action of dispersing agitators at Langthabal area on Thursday night.
His right side retina has been detached when hit by bullet and currently treating at JN Hospital.
Family source yesterday has said that doctors attending him suggest for treating at AIIMS, New Delhi as his condition has become critical.
Womenfolk of Langthabal Kunja and its surrounding area today staged sit-in protest against fake encounter and decrying the act of police allegedly shooting to injure severely Prakash at the eye.
Strongly denouncing the act of injuring and detaching eye of Prakash, Yendrembam Tampha, a member of the Langthabal Leikai Leima Lup said there is no need for blaming the bad habit of the police commandos when they tried to say the injuring of Prakash, a student severely instead of giving him good advise in the name of controlling the people's agitation.
As there is no hope of helping the injured victim family by the government, family has decided to sell out their estate and decided to carry Prakash at New Delhi for medical treatment with the assistant of the people.
He is likely to take leave Imphal for New Delhi on Wednesday, she added.
Further speaking to media, Tampha criticized the statement of the Senior SP, Imphal west stating that Prakash was not injured in police firing citing that it was the habit of the police spreading lair propaganda.
Police foiled the sit-in protest staged at Market place.
However, the same protest continued after shifting the site at a public ground.
It one of the slogans displayed at the protest side, it compared the rule of Ibobi as that if Hitler.
Police once again dispersed the protest but the same protest resumed after police left the place.
