Chingsubam Akaba, the man who took a significant role in reviving the indigenous Meetei script, Meetei religion and strengthening the brotherhood, love and communal harmony between the people of valley and hills of the state, was fondly remembered today on his third death anniversary.
A function to commemorate the day was organised by Meetei Eyek Erol Loina Shillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) in association with Meetei National Front (MNF) at the office of the MEELAL at Season Market, Imphal.
Before the formal function was started, floral tributes were paid to the memorial site of the Akaba at Wakha Leima Ching at the foot hill of Nongmaiching where his last rite was performed.

King Leishemba Sanajaoba led the people in offering the floral tributes.
A guard of honour was offered by Thang-Ta and martial artistes.
To mark the occasion, Leishemba Sanajaoba also unveiled the curtail of an exclusive hoarding of Meetei Mayek in front of the GP Women's College in theheart of the city.
With the unveiling of the hoarding, MEELAL has opened three hoardings exclusively of Meetei Mayek so far.
Speaking on the occasion, King Sanajaoba observed that since the demise of the leader, there has been a gap in activities related with the indigenous Meetei script and religion.
He was a great able inspirational man of the yore.
He further said that the habit of eliminating able men which has been carry on as custom in the society need to be changed.
To bring a change to the notion will be the true tribute to the leader.
In the key note address of the function, MEELAL secretary P Thakaba said that Akaba was the man who struggle all odd for reviving the Meetei Mayek script and Sanamahi Leining in the midst of prevailing conflict situation of the state.
During his lifetime, he tried to erase the division between the people of hill and valley by religions.
He started the campaign from 1960 and struggled for the same till his last breath.
President of MEELAL, Moirangthem Naodakhomba, advisor of the All Manipur Recognized Private School Welfare Association, Namoi Tomba, vice president of MNF, Thokchom Wangamba were in the dais in the commemoration function.
