Imphal, October 16:
Voicing strong resentment against alleged lack of positive response from the State Government to its proposal for improvement of educational facilities in Sadar Hills, the Thadou Students' Association, Sadar Hills District Committee has threatened to impose indefinite economic blockade along the National Highways 39 and 53 in case State authorities fail to initiate appropriate measures.
Failure to respond positively within a week would entail the agitation from October 23 onwards, said a release of the Association whose demands include Government initiative to address problems of pitiable Govt school buildings, provide basic infrastructure and ensure adequate posting of graduate teachers in Sadar hills.
The Association also reminded that lack of positive response by the Education Minister to an earlier memorandum submitted on September 26 on the same issues had constrained the student body to impose 48 hour bandh recently.
Violation of the proposed indefinite economic blockade by all concerned would entail stringent action, the Association cautioned.
Meanwhile, the Manipuri Students' Federation extending solidarity to the TSA sentiment drew the attention of the State Government in general and the Education Minister in particular to initiate appropriate measures in addressing woes of the Sadar Hills student community at the earliest.
Informing that MSF teams came across severe inconveniences being endured by students of Sadar Hills due to deplorable conditions of school buildings among other problems, a release of the student body also questioned inaction of the Education Minister on the issue.
