The MEELAL would be a launching monitoring drive to see whether Meetei Mayek is being taught properly in all the Government and private schools of the State.
Meetei Mayek was implemented in schools as per an agreement signed between MEELAL and the State Government in 2005.Addressing a press meet today, MEELAL secretary general Moirangthem Naokhomba asserted that the concerned school authorities would be held responsible where Meetei Mayek is found disregarded and not taught.
Stating that MEELAL would build up a memorial seat for Maichou Khongnangthaba within Manipur University premises, Naokhomba informed that MEELAL would take up steps so that Meetei Mayek is taught in the university just as other languages.
During the current year, MEELAL would launch an extensive campaign in the valley districts to make all the students, employed and retired individuals Meetei Mayek literate, Naokhomba said.
