General strike by Teachers assn called off

The decision of the All Manipur DPC Faced Candidates' Association for Primary, Hindi Primary and Hindi Graduate Teachers, 2006 to call a general strike from midnight of April 15 to midnight of April 16 has been withdrawn following an assurance from the State Government to declare the results of the DPC within the current month officially/through official channel.
Announcing the withdrawal of the proposed general strike at Manipur Press Club here today, spokesperson of the Association Moirangthem Rajendro said that the general strike has been called off after the Government gave the assurance of declaring the result within this month officially and
based on merit.
Rajendro informed that the a delegation of the Association met Education Minister DD Thaisii on April 13 and the latter assured that the selection of the DPC faced candidates would be done in a fair manner and that a Cabinet meeting would be held to discuss the matter very soon.
Rajendro, however, warned that the Association would be taking up the matter with a law court if the Government fails to declare the results within the assured deadline.
