Imphal, February 15 2011:
Ex-MLA from Khangabok AC, L Jatra has questioned the achievement of the SPF Government under Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in their nine years of rule.
He said that the people of Manipur need to analyse Ibobi's administration and his politics.
Speaking at a youth political conference organised by the MPP Wangkhem Kendra Youth Front at Tangjeng ground today, L Jatra who is also the MPP vice president remarked that the nine years of Ibobi's rule have been marked by the longest days of bandhs and blockades, unprecedented rate of inflation, holding of ADC elections forcefully and leaving the elected ADCs defunct, loss of people's faith in security forces, disappearance of the word 'merit' from the vernacular of the Manipuri people and emergence of 'family politics' .
These are achievements of the SPF Government, Jatra declared.
People need to thoroughly study the nature of Ibobi's rule and his family politics.
To make it convenient for the people to study the achievements of SPF Government which is now more than nine years old, the MPP Youth Front would be publishing a booklet.
By analysing this booklet, people will understand whether the SPF Government is taking the State forward or backward, Jatra asserted.
Asking whether the Government is able to provide PDS items to the people regularly in specified quantities, Jatra decried that the Govt has no concern to frame any irrigation policy for the welfare of farmers.
To the Chief Minister, the word 'infrastructure' connotes only roads and bridges.
The Chief Minister has also been misinterpreting the meanings of state economy and state finance, the former MLA alleged.
He went on to ask the SPF Government if it has no concrete policy the address the problem of unemployment.
By allotting contract works to most of the MLAs, the Chief Minister has degraded politics.
Acknowledging the observations of Jatra as facts, MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang asserted that the Government has failed to formulate any employment policy.
Recruitment of IRBs is not a solution.
Even recruitment of IRBs was not done on merit basis.
Those who can offer greater amounts of bribe money can get jobs but there is no job for meritorious candidates.
To overhaul the existing system of governance, people should support and strengthen regional party, he exhorted.
The conference was also addressed by many other MPP leaders.
