A medical team of 17 Assam Rifles provided immediate medical aid to victims and evacuated them to hospital following an accident on July 12 morning (11.30 am) along the Shakpao-Lumbui road.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release, a shaktiman truck plying on the said route lost control and turned turtle resulting in injuries to the driver and co-driver.
In another instance of security force personnel providing assistance to the civilian population, one Bashiruddin (50) of Urpa Naoken village in Imphal East district was treated for snakebite at MI Room of 12 Maratha LI of 9 Sector on July 12, the PRO release informed.
The patient, reportedly grazing his cattle in the field was bitten by a poisonous vipersnake on his leg and was brought to the MI room at about 9.30 with symptoms of poisoning.
During the brief period of observation, Bashiruddin's condition worsened and was promptly put on life saving anti-snake venom therapy by the unit's medical officer and staff, the PRO maintained while adding that after 6 hours of the therapy, supportive care and close medical observation the patient recovered and after referred to RIMS Hospital for further treatment.
On the otherhand, the 39 AR organised a medical camp at Nagaching village today during which a total of 115 patients were treated and given medicines, the PRO release continued while informing that the village chief and local populace expressed deep gratitude to the AR's gesture.
