Job cards under MGNRWEGS will be given to all people living with HIV/AIDS in the state from the next fiscal year 2011-12, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development minister Md Allauddin said today.
Speaking as president in the opening function of the one-day convention on HIV/AIDS organized by the Manipur Legislative Forum on HIV/AIDS at Keirao Kendra in Imphal east, the minister said a person infected by the disease should not conceal it.
The society also should not discriminate such people.
Everybody should be made aware of the preventive measures of the disease as there is no medicine that can cure this disease.
His department has a plan to provide jobs to people living with HIV/AIDS in the state by issuing MGNREGS job cards to them starting from next year, 2011.The issue of job cards for Keirao Kendra will begin from April, he added.
He also announced .that ' 100 each will be paid every month to the people falling in this category in his constituency.
He will give the money from his monthly salary or from the MLA's Local Area Development Funds, Allauddin added.
Speaking as chief guest in the function, MLA Th Lokeshwor, Speaker in-charge, also stressed on the need for sharing co-operation to the people living with HIV.
A concerted effort is also needed to prevent spreading of the disease from an infected person.
State coordinator of UN AIDS, Manipur Sushil Huidrom delivered the key note address of the convention.
He emphasised on the importance of the role of a HIV positive person from spreading the disease to other innocent persons.
