Imphal, November 09 2010:
Two Myanmarese nationals, who were travelling along NH-39 in a Maruti van (MN01K/9863) without valid documents have been apprehended by troops of 29 AR on November 7 at around 1 pm, said an AR PRO release.
The Myanmar duo identified as Ali Joha (21) s/o Md Lalu and Musalman Sadak (20) s/o Musalman Mannobi, both from Buidong have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station.
In another incident, troops of 42 AR rounded up two drug peddlers travelling in a Maruti Van from Bongyang area on Nov 7 .
The PRO release identified the drug peddlers, from whom 14,335 tablets were recovered, as Lalu Chouhan (35) s/o Jhedhu and Bhant Chouhan (24) s/o Jawahar of Moreh Ward No 2 .
Along with the tablets found concealed in two compartmentalised suitcases, the arrested persons have been handed over to Tengnoupal police station.another drug peddler identified as Aimung Zou (35) s/o Lenkhojan Zou of Moreh WN 2 was arrested by 31 AR from Khudengthabi area at around 6 pm of November 8 .
The release said 7 kgs of processed opium were seized from Lenkhojan, who has been handed over to community leaders and the seized drugs destroyed before local leaders.
