The Junior High School located at Toupokpi under Bishnupur district is being maintained at the expense of the Headmaster, village Gram Panchayat member and other philanthropic individuals.
This was observed during a simple function held to mark distribution of school uniforms to students of the school.
The school uniforms were brought by Up-Pradhan of Thinungei Gram Panchayat Sagolsem Premchandra of Toupokpi from his own money.
In an encouraging development, the number enrolled in the school this year is 158 as against only seven last year.
The school upgraded to the level of Junior High School from Lower Primary level despite having different shortages and deficiencies is thriving well now.
Because of the selfless efforts of Headmaster Konthoujam Devananda and Up-Pradhan Premchandra the number of students is steadily increasing in the school.
No form of fee is taken from the students.
The Headmaster himself bought and distributed stationery items to the students last month, said Up-Pradhan and chairman of the School Management and Development Committee Premchandra.
Local social workersHeisnam Tomba and Haobijam Ibopishak have also been contributing their might in maintaining the school.
