Imphal, April 01 2009:
Reacting to Health Minister Parijat's statement published in local dailies in today's edition, MPP pointed out that it was MPP that spearheaded agitation against the Congress in 1972 to attain statehood in Manipur.
CPI was probably hiding at that time when MPP agitated like a real tiger regarding the issue leading from the front, a press release issued by its Publicity general secretary S Umananda alleged.
On the role of Opposition, Umananda asserted that the Minister should remember that atleast MPP is remained as the Opposition while CPI is busy in trying to get hold of a Ministership even when the party had withdrawn support from the UPA at the Centre.
At this juncture, Umananda said, only people will decide which party is more power hunger MPP or CPI.
On the allegation of the existence of MPP with a few MLAs shouting in the Assembly, Umananda said that MPP is atleast raising their voice as expected by the people, whereas CPI is busy in hobnobbing with the Congress for a few crumbs instead of raising their voice against the failure of the Government.
Umananda also suggested to remember the Minister that it was in his time as FCS Minister that there was acute shortage of kerosene in the State.
Umananda further asserted that it was well known fact why FCS portfolio had been taken out from him.
