Thingom Monika of Catholic School, Canchipur has won the 28th State Level Students' Science Seminar 2006 held today at GM Hall.
Monika would represent the State in the forthcoming National Science Seminar at Bangalore.
The Science seminar organised by the Directorate of Education (Schools) under the topic 'Conservation of Bio-diversity, Prospects and Concerns' was participated by a number of students from different parts of the State.
About 50 students presented demonstrations and spoke on the topic of the seminar.
Student of Catholic School, Canchipur Thingom Monika was adjudged the best seminar demonstrator while Zeinorin Angkang of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School and Rosy Thokchom of JNV Khumbong won the second and third positions respectively.
Moreover, 18 other students were also selected for consolation prizes.
A prize distribution ceremony to the winners of the State Level Science Seminar was held in the afternoon session.
The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Education Minister L Nandakumar, Vice-Chancellor of MU Prof C Amuba and Director of Education (Schools) Angousana as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The winner of the seminar Thingom Monika was honoured with certificate, memento and cash incentive of Rs 3000.Every year, the winner of the State Level Science Seminar is given the opportunity to represent the State in the National Level Seminar.
At the end of the seminar, it was declared that for this year, Thingom Monika would represent the State in the National Students' Science Seminar scheduled for October 6 at Visvesvaraya, Bangalore.
Further, the second and third position holders in addition to the 18 students selected for consolation prizes were awarded certificates, mementoes and incentives worth Rs 500 each.
