A Home Guard Commander, who has been decorated with President's Meritorious Service Medal in appreciation of his commendable service is likely to be removed from his post and stripped of the medal after he was found to join the service with fake certifi-cates and documents.
The matter came to light when the State Vigilance Commission investigated to find out the exact age of the Home Guard Commander who continues to remain in service even after attaining 63 years of age.
According to a highly placed source, during the course of the investigation, the Vigilance Commission came to know that Anwar Hussein, who is posted as the Divisional Commander of Home Guard in Imphal West joined the service in 1976 and his age recorded in the Electoral is 63 .
At the time of joining the service, Anwar Hussein had submitted the certificate of passing examination from Central Hindi High School under Central Board of Higher Education (CBHE) in 1972 with his date of birth given as 1/2/1957.However, when details were send to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for verification, CBSE responded that the said CBHE is a fake board.
In addition to this fake certificate, Anwar Hussein had also submitted another certificate claiming that he passed his class IX examination from Yairipok Azad High School in 1970 and his age at that time of 13 years.
Accordingly, the Commission seized the register of the school and forwarded it to Forensic Science experts to seek their opinions.
After a close scrutiny, Forensic Science experts confirmed that the name of Anwar Hussein had been included much latter and there is also difference in the serial number of the names given in the register.
Thus, proving that the certificates and other documents used by Anwar Hussein at the time of joining the service of Home Guard were fake.
Accordingly, the Commission has recommended to the State Government for suspending Anwar Hussein from service and stripping of the President's Meritorious Service Medal given to him.
The Government has also given its approval to the recommendation of the Commission, the source added.
After being in service for 24 years, Anwar Hussein received the President's Meritorious Service Medal in 1992.
