Authority has processed for the deposal of the dead body of Akoijam Priyobarta alias Bochou of Mongsangei which has been lying as unclaimed dead body at RIMS morgue after he was killed by Imphal west police commandos in what said to be encounter.
The dead body of Priyobarta has been lying at RIMS morgue as family refused to accept with the support of the local people who formed a JAC in connection with the murder alleging that he was killed after picked up by the police commandos and not link with any underground groups.
The 48-hour state-wide general strike imposed by the JAC decrying government remaining silent to the demand put forward by them is also going on peacefully without much impact to the normal life of the people.
Except some disturbances in the traffic movement on the Mayai Lambi at Mongsangei area where the deceased hailed from, there were no shadows of general strike in other part of the state.
Shops, markets and other business centres, government and private institutions remained opened as usual for the day.
Meanwhile, police has processed for disposal of the dead body as it has been lying unclaimed for the last three days in the morgue.
As per the law, a dead body can be disposed off by the government authority, if none claim within 72-hours (three days).
Police today conducted all the necessary process like maintaining figure print of the dead body.
Postmortem will be conducted tomorrow for onward handing over to the Imphal Municipal authority for disposal, sources said.
