The acclaimed novel Laman of Hijam Guno would be immortalised in a TV serial, the shooting of which is nearly completion.
Ten episodes of the serial being produced jointly by ISTV and CATA has already been completed.
This was disclosed during the audio cassette releasing function of the serial at Manipur Press Club here this afternoon.
Managing Director of Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) Limited Sobita Devi was the chief guest of the function presided over by Prof N Tombi and attended by retired Director of AIR Imphal S Indrakumar, AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam, MFJCA president RK Bidur and novelist Hijam Guna as guests of honour.
In her address, Sobita appreciated the effort being made to serialise the well-known novel written by one of the noted literary luminaries of Manipur.
This would give a new thrust in popularising the literary works as well as set a new trend in the field of video film making,
she hoped.
In his presidential address, Prof Tombi said film is an art which is now being even included as part of the Literature study in educational institutions.
After the ban on Hindi film, many Manipuri films are being churned out.
But unfortunately, most of these Manipuri films seem to be copied from others, he said, adding that film makers should draw inspiration from out own culture and literary works while choosing subjects for their films so that the same could get compete at the international arena.
The TV serial is being directed by Banka Sharma and the music score given by Dr Hamom Naba.
