Imphal, August 17 2014:
Condemning Chief Minister Okram Ibobi's remark on shouting of pro-ILPS slogans during his speech at Independence Day celebration, JCILPSSW clarified that nobody instigated the students to do so.
Speaking to reporters, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System Students' Wing (JCILPSSW) convenor Moirangthem Angamba said that the students, who took part in the celebration, were picked up by the Government and no student organisation had ever instigated the participating students to shout pro-ILPS slogans at Independence Day celebration.
As such, it is condemnable to point finger of suspicion towards student bodies regarding the incident, he added.
Maintaining that no organisation had ever instigated Meira Paibis and students to raise voice for ILPS implementation as well, Angamba said that the ongoing agitation is a people's uprising.
Urging the Government to regulate entry of non-local labourers through a proper system, Angamba said that Power Grid Corporation could not provide details of their labourers, who are working in the State.
Angamba questioned as to why the State Government had constituted an all-party committee after ILPS had already been passed in the State Legislative Assembly in 2012 and 2013 .
In this regard, Angamba demanded the State Government to spell out the Centre's reply to the public on the issue.
Urging the 60 MLAs to take a concrete stand on the issue, Angamba requested the experts of AIR news analysis programme to present their opinion after thoroughly understanding the demand and move of JCILPSSW.
He said that they had not imposed any ban on the entry of non-locals to the State but their demand is to regulate their entry through a proper system.
