Imphal, October 15 2009:
Kuki Students' organisation (KSO) has deplored the lack of equipments at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), due to alleged apathy on the part of the authority, which is adding burden to patients.
Talking to reporters at the emergency ward of RIMS today, vice president of KSO (Imphal), Letminthang Haokip said the absence of essential equipments like C/Arms ambulance in RIMS has caused additional burden to patients.
He observed out that the lack of equipment is the indication of the apathy of the RIMS authority while adding that the hospital is one of the most important hospitals in the entire North-East.
Pointing out a case, Letminthang said, a hunter identified as Thangminlen Kipgen of C Joujang village in Senapati district, who suffered bullet injuries was brought to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital yesterday.
The authority has referred the patient to Shija Hospitals this morning around 9 due to absence of 'equipment' to treat the patient.
He wondered how a premier hospital like RIMS could be ill-equipped when a private hospital like Shija has the needed facilities.
Letminthang further added that another patient from Pallel, identified as Lunkholet, was admitted to RIMS Hospital due to internal bleeding.
He was referred to Shija Hospital by RIMS authority on September 25 citing lack of equipments for treating him.
The patient met his end on the way to Shija in the absence of proper ambulance to transport him.
He urged the authority to live up to its name so that the public especially the poor, may solely bank on the hospital.
