Imphal, June 09 2009:
Hope has been rekindled for MP Dr T Meinya to be inducted in the Union Council of Ministers as a Minister of State.
Chief Minister O Ibobi and Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing are lobbying for a berth as Minister of Statefour of which are yet to be filled upin the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre for Inner Manipur Congress MP Dr T Meinya.
"We are sure of getting a berth of MoS out of the four posts, which still remain vacant, for Dr Meinya," a responsible source within the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) asserted.
The source said that the four vacant posts of MoS will be filled up soon as the first session of the 15th Lok Sabha has concluded today.
Chief Minister Ibobi and MPCC President Gaikhangam have also adjured AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for a ministerial berth for
Dr Meinya.
Chief Minister Ibobi has been camping in Delhi to have parleys with the AICC leaders on the matter, the source informed.
Apart from regular telephonic conversations between the MPCC leaders and the AICC President, Sonia Gandhi, Inner Manipur Congress MP Dr Meinya has also been in Delhi lobbying for a ministerial berth, the source added.
When asked whether the lobby will be unfruitful like the last two times when the UPA ministry was sworn in, the source replied, the chances are high this time.
"The AICC leaders are very much aware of the good performance of Congress in the state," another influential leader of the MPCC said while citing the recent victory of the party in the recent elections.
Apart from this, the Congress party enjoys absolute majority in the state Assembly.
These will be the added advantage for getting an MoS berth for Meinya, they exuded confidence.
