Imphal, November 06 2009:
Congress MLAs and Ministers are going to hold a meeting at 3.00 pm tomorrow to discuss the present crisis arising out of the closure of educational institutions.
An official source said, the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) had earlier discussed the situation in regard to the closure of schools and colleges following the call for class boycott by three students' organisations.
Though the resolutions taken at the meeting had been translated into action, all the schools and colleges could not be made to reopen.
However, the source further said, tomorrow's meeting will chalk out a strategy to see that the classes are resumed without fail.
It will also be decided whether using force, if necessary, in trying to see that classes at all schools and colleges are resumed, will bear fruit at tomorrow's meeting.
The official source further affirmed that while the government was trying to draw up a policy to have classes resume, it will never stop talking to the Apunba Lup and its branches until some agreements were taken.
During the talks held on October 31 between the government and the Apunba Lup, the representatives of Apunba Lup had said that they will discuss among themselves the proposals placed by the government and fix date for the second round of talks.
But the Apunba Lup has not yet intimated the government the date for second round of talks.
The source contended that the present class closure is not really a class boycott.
This is a forcible ban imposed on the students and teachers.
The source exuded confidence that the students organisations operating in the state will surely extend cooperation with the authority in its efforts to formulate a new policy to enable the students to attend class and learn.
