Kohima, March 19:
The Nagaland Unit of BJP has categorically stated that nothing was written in the partys (BJP) election manifesto as well as constitution for attacking the Christian beliefs or for that matter any other religion.
In a statement, the Nagaland Minister for Irrigation and Flood Control, MC Konyak dismissed the charges leveled by the erstwhile NDM President KL Chishsi while merging his (Chishi) party with the Congress that communal and fundamentalist forces in Nagaland were trying to destroy the identity and belief of the Nagas.
Reminding the former Chief Minister, Konyak who is also a senior BJP leader in Nagaland, said nothing was written in the partys (BJP) manifesto or constitution for attacking the Christian beliefs or for that matter any other religion. Chishi should know that BJP party was a political party that had only one goal in Nagaland that is to bring socio-economic development of Nagaland besides helping resolve the longstanding Naga political problem, which the Congress had failed miserably.
Asking Chishi to abstain from making confusion with regard to religious beliefs and practices in Nagaland, the Minister said he (Chishi), at a particular point of time, was very much interested in joining the BJP.
But his attempt was not readily accepted by the higher echelon of the party as he demanded the presidentship of the party (Nagaland BJP).
Konyak also said it would have been better had Chishi, being veteran and ex-Chief Minister, silently joined the Congress without uttering such unfounded and baseless words.
The BJP President was fully confident that DANs consensus candidate, W Wangyuh Konyak would win with comfortable majority in the forthcoming LS elections in the State.
He further explained that with the wave of DANs one-year achievement in the State through its Common Minimum Program (CMP) while Congress facing continuous eroding in the State, people would definitely vote for DAN candidates, he stated.
He also said BJP-led alliance would win over 300 seats in the coming LS elections in the country.
