Health Mela held at Chandel

With an objective to provide health care facilities in the remote areas of the district, the District Health Society, Chandel organised a Health Mela under National Rural Health Mission at Khodamphai Village under Tengnoupal Sub- Division in Chandel district today.
The inaugural function of the Health Mela was attended by Ch Pasho Aimol, chief of Aimol Tampak village; L Kiran Kumar, Sub-Divisional Officer of Tengnoupal; Dr N Birchandra Singh, Mission Director of District Health Mission Chandel as the chief guest, guests of honour and functional president respectively.
During the Health Mela, 11 medical practitioners in General Medicine, Paediatric, Gynae, Ortho, Dental, Surgery and Ayush examined the patients.
Apart from distribution of medicines, Laboratory test, X-ray and Ultrasound facilities were also provided in the Mela.
Around 1000 villagers from the surrounding villages availed the health care facilities in the Mela which was attended by ASHAs, Staff Nurses, and other staff of District Health Society, Chandel.
Briefing media persons, Dr Birchandra Singh, CMO Chandel who is also the Mission Director of District Health Society said that the objective of organising the health mela was to provide health care facilities to the remote villages in order to achieve the national goal of Health for all by 2020 .
He also said that Manipur and Goa share the top spot in terms of Low Infant Mortality Rate among the States in India which shows the success of National Rural Health Mission scheme in the state.
Apart from setting up of 18 Departmental Stores, a Photo Exhibition of the District Health Society was also displayed during the health Mela.
