Imphal, Jul 27:
A tract of land provided by the State Government to an NGO of unemployed youths was found distributed among 74 individuals.
Moreover, the name of a retired Chief Engineer and an official of the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records were found included in the list of unemployed youths.
An official source informed The Sangai Express that the State Government provided 0.0532 acres of land near AG colony of Lamphel to the Lamphel Area Unemployed Youth Organisation in 2002.Apart from a small portion of the area left for the Organisation, the whole area was distributed among 74 individuals.
Even as there is legal provision that prohibits registration of such lands under the name of any private individual, one S K (Supervisor Kamungo) in the Directorate of Settlement and Land Records A Tombi made a mockery of the statute book by dismissing the legal prohibition and helping in the partition of the land area.
It is reported that the SK A Tombi was suspended from service after his wrongdoings were confirmed.
The official source informed that the land area bearing dag no 7117/91(A) Lamphelpat was found partitioned and registered under the names of 74 individuals.
On the other hand, during investigation it was discovered that the NGO has only 47 members.
Further, the area allotted to the NGO was found enlarged to 0.1 hectares and among the list of the unemployed youths were the names of a retired Chief Engineer and his wife and the daughter of A Tombi with false father's name.
All of them had their shares in the land partition.
Among the 74 individuals under whose names the land was partitioned and registered, 9 had transferred their shares to other persons.
It may be mentioned here that the suspension order of SK A Tombi was issued by Under Secretary (Revenue Department) Hareshwar Goswami.
