Imphal, March 26 2009:
The annual Higher Secondary Examination, 2009 (class XII examination) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur which began on February 27 concluded today and the results of the same is likely to be out by first week of May.
During the course of the examination, in all 15 students have been expelled from various examination centres for using unfair means.
On the last day of the examination today, Chairman of the Council Ningombam Ibohal personally conducted a special inspection round of the various examination centres.
Speaking to mediapersons on the sideline of his special inspection visit, Ibohal observed that monitoring of the examination centres of the examinations conducted by the Council or the Board in Manipur along with formation of inspection teams would continue to be relevant as long as there is no teaching-learning process in the State.
In this regard, the related authorities of the Government had been already been requested for taking up necessary measures.
But the same have not been implemented, Ibohal lamented.
It is an undeniable fact that until and unless there is improvement in the existing system of school education of the State, more and more students would seek to enrol themselves in schools affiliated under the Central Board of Secondary Education, Ibohal noted, while emphasising on the need to improve the system of education in schools under the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur to arrest the unhealthy trend of student exodus.
Replying to a question, the Council Chairman said that the public notion of looking at the examination as some sort of entertainment programme which was apparent few years back is no more today.
This is a healthy development, he added.
The Chairman further assured that in view of the Supreme Court ruling that the results of any examination should be declared within 45 days of the completing the conduct of the examination, the Council would make efforts to declare the results of the class XII examination by first week of May.
