National Voters Day observed

The National Voters Day was observed at the Central Hall of DM College of Science today.
The National Voters Day was held today even as the Day falls on January 25, which is a State Holiday here, said a statement issued by the Principal of DMC Science.
According to the statement, the Day's observance programme was presided by Dr P Ranabir, Principal of DMC Science.
Teaching, non-teaching staff and students of the college.
Raheijuddin Sheikh of the Dept of Physics highlighted the importance of elections in democratic country like India.

He also pointed out that the NVD was initiated in 2011 to commemorate the foundation day of the Election Commission of India and also to enhance the participation of the voters, especially the youths, college students in the democratic processes.
He added that the main objective of observing the Day is to enhance the enrolment of voters especially the newly eligible ones.
Principal of the college also administered an oath to the students.
