The State unit of Communist Party of india has lodged a complaint to the election Commission alleging malpractice during the voting for the Inner manipur parliamentary Constituency at a Thoubal district polling station.
In the CPI complaint, one (unnamed) close relative of the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, allegedly cast multiple votes at 31/22 Okram hanjaba (C) Ningombam Girls LP School polling booth that falls under Thoubal AC, which the Chief Minister represents.
moreover, in the complaint it has been mentioned that the said impersonator confiscated mobile phone of a journalist who reportedly captured the individual casting multiple votes.
As a consequent of the complaint, the Chief Electoral Officer has issued instruction to the Returning Officer/Imphal West Deputy Commissioner of Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and the Assistant Returning officer of Thoubal to investigate the matter and to submit a report.
