Political convention held at Kalapahar

In a society where different communities are living together, there is need for developing strong bond of affection among the communities to bring peace, said Hill Areas Committee (HAC) Chairman Thangminlen Kipgen.
He was speaking in a one-day political conference held at Kalapahar Bazar for the Chiefs and office functionaries of Village Authorities of 14 villages fall under Kalapahar Autonomous District Council.
The Chairman who is also an MLA from Kangpokpi A/C said, it is not right to look down and undermine the aspirations of smaller communities by bigger ones.
Such situations fuel in the increase of communal enmity and tension, he said and added, it would in turn hamper progress and bring a state of mayhem in the society.
Thangminlen Kipgen observed that people of all communities must together share not only the felicitous moments but also the hard times.
Saying that it is not possible to provide employment to everybody by the Government, the Chairman opined to instill the sense of work culture in one's mind to bring prosperity in the State.
With regards to development, Thangminlen said that it is not possible to bring development without peace.
So people must put effort on restoring peace in order to bring development, he added.
The convention taken part by the representatives of Daili, Phapou, Yaikongpao, Tumnoupokpi, Thanamba, Lower Thanamba, Liyai Kongpao, Liyai Kalapahar, Mahika, Kalapahar, Haipi and Satikhula villages also resolved to support Thangminlen Kipgen in the 10th Assembly elections.
