Brick field keeper clubbed to death

Imphal, January 18, 2012:
A brick field keeper was bludgeoned to death by unidentified person/s at Pheidinga while a decomposed dead body was found at Langol hill.
Sources from the spot informed that the deceased break field keeper, Ayekpam Nabachandra (55) s/o A Iboton of Purul Likli Litanpokpi had been staying for a couple of years at the brick field located at Pheidinga along Imphal-Sekmai road.
Nabachandra was beaten up by unidentified masked men/man at around 9 last night.
A woman from the neighbouring brick field informed that ahead of the incident Nabachandra had a conversation with the assailant/s and then they went the house of Nabachandra.
She further added that the masked men/man asked Nabachandra for dinner which he refused telling that the brick field owner was a new one after which they/he started thrashing him near the main door of the house.
She maintained that the assailant/s also threatened other people near the Brick field not to come outside.
They/he left the place in a car soon later, she added.
Right after the assailant left the place, the woman along with her family members gave first aid to Nabachandra.
The family also contacted the local people to rush the victim to the hospital but they refused, she regretted.
Nabachandra was rushed to RIMS at around 7 am today but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
A case has been registered at the Sekmai police station regarding the incident and submitted the corpse to RIMS morgue.
Police also picked-up a bamboo rod from the spot.
Meanwhile, a decomposed dead body was found hung in a tree at the Yairok Lok of Langol today.
The body was located by some boys who have been to the hill for collecting woods.
The dead body was found wearing a long pant, vest and socks.
A team of Lamphel police station picked-up the body and submitted to RIMS mortuary for further official identification.
