Imphal, May17 2009:
Manipur People's Party (MPP) and CPI whose candidates came in third and second respectively behind the eventual winner Dr Th Meinya of the Congress party have conveyed their gratitude to all the people who voted for them.
Speaking to media persons at MPP office today, MPP candidate Th Chaoba observed that poll results have shown the presence of a huge anti-Congress section among the electorates.
MPP president Dr L Chandramani said that the party would hold several meetings to study its lapses and its inability to take its proposed policies and programmes to the grassroots.
MLA RK Anand said that he was happy to see the former MP defeated who canvassed on integrity plank in Outer Constituency, even though the winner was a Congress candidate.
At the same time, RK Anand asserted that it was a loss for the State to elect candidates of the ruling party which has failed in tackling several major issues including law and order.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by CPI Manipur State Council has conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all the people of Manipur who supported and voted for its candidate Dr M Nara.
Remarking that the huge number of votes received by the CPI candidate from different sections of the society was a historic event, CPI said that the party was indebted to the people.
It also pledged to work always sincerely for the people of Manipur.
