Aizawl, March 16:
The Hmar Peoples' Convention (Democratic) has claimed responsibility for the 'termination' of six Hmar National Army (HNA) cadres on March 4 this year.
Justifying the act, a statement of the HPC (D) said the six HNA cadres had broken the truce made by the Hmar Christian Leaders' Forum who formed a Peace Commission on November 1, 2006 which asked that the two Hmar factions stop fighting between themselves and to bring peace to the Hmar clan.
"While the HPC (D) was abiding by the request for truce made by the Church leaders, the six HNA cadres had shot Nghaka, one of our people at Daido, Mizoram who managed to escape unhurt on February 8.Not content with this, these HNA cadres visited Jurkhal (in Assam) on February 13 looking for HPC (D) cadres while subjecting civilians to beatings and torture," the statement said, adding that as soon as the HPC (D) heard of the incident, the HNA people were pursued and apprehended.
"After they were interrogated, they were terminated at Tinghmun," the statement said.
The statement revealed that Sinlung Hills Development Council chairman Hmingchungnung was aware of what was going on because he had given them parting prayer when these HNA people were about to leave Aizawl at the house of Lienzam Hrangchal in Edenthar locality.
