Many civil organisations have urged for unconditional release of the four AMADA activists sent to jail on the charge of assaulting a police constable yesterday.
The Women Association for Civic Action Kangleipak (WACAK), Panthoibi Meira Paibi Lup, Ching-Tam Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup and Khurai Heikru Mankhong Meira Paibi decried the act of arresting the AMADA activists who were campaigning against drugs abuse and consumption of intoxicants.
Speaking to reporters at Press Club today, WACAK president Sougam Ibetombi asserted that the campaign of AMADA against drug abuse and intoxicants is not for their well being but for the welfare of the society and the future generations.
She also decried the alleged attempt of the State Government and the Police Department to victimise AMADA activists.
Alleging that the detention of the AMADA activists is against the wish of the people, Ibetombi demanded immediate release of the arrested activists before the matter snowballs into a major issue.
While reminding the grave issue of drug abuse by many a great of number youths in the State, she cautioned that the Meira Paibis will not remain silent against such acts of deliberately victimising social organisations like AMADA who are campaigning for a better future.
The Khwairamband Keithel Shinpham Amasung Shaktam Kanba Lup has also condemned the act of booking AMADA activists.
They also demanded release of the four activists without any condition.
Likewise, the Research and Information Wing of the User Manipur has also urged upon the authority concerned for unconditional release of the arrested AMADA activists.
