Ammunition recovered

Imphal, May 13 2013:
Troops of 40 AR of 9 Sector under IGAR (S) launched an operation in Lumthabung on May 12 resulting in the recovery of huge cache of ammunition.
A release issued by the PRO of IGAR (S) said that two Chinese hand grenades with detonator, sack containing 750 gm plastic explosives including a packet of nuts, nails, bolts and a metal tiffin box were recovered and were handed over to Yairipok PS. Meanwhile, a combined team of 16 AR Sagolmang Post and Imphal East commandos recovered one lathod gun, three lathod bombs and 28 live rounds of AK-47 from the house of Karam Bhaigya Singh (64) s/o (L) K Kuladhara Singh of Ishingthembi Mapal on May 10 around 11.5 pm.
According to a statement issued by the SP (Imphal East), the team was conducting a search operation in the area.
When examined, the house owner said that two persons who had come to his house told them that they kept some items at the house without mentioning the exact location and said they would collect the same later as they were being chased by some vehicles and they left the place.
The team continued to search for the fleeing persons till 6.30am of May 11.However, none of them could be apprehended due to darkness and inclement weather, it added.
