Imphal, April 03 2009:
Taking serious view of the inaction of the Government on the murder of Dr Kishan and his two staff by NSCN (IM), the Kuki Movement for Human Rights has urged upon the Government to act justly and to bring the perpetrators in a proper court without any further delay.
"If there is a Government, why should the murder case be handed over to CBI after the culprits have been identified already and if they were arrested by their fellow NSCN (IM) and being kept in their custody", the KMHR asked.
Saying that the Kuki people have had bitter experience of the failure of the Government to protect its citizens from proscribed militants like the recent murder of Dr Kishan and his staff, the KMHR decried that the long awaited cry for justice for killing more than 900 innocent Kukis and uprooting 360 villages by NSCN (IM) has fallen into deaf ears.
There has been no response to the more than 60 memoranda submitted to former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao, Deve Gowda, IK Gujral, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the incumbent Dr Manmohan Singh.
The Kuki Inpi's repeated appeal to the Government to constitute a high power commission to investigate into the magnitude of killing innocent Kukis has never been accepted, it decried.
Asking if the people would still put faith in such a Government, the KMHR questioned if the Governments were hand in glove with the militant outfits.
