Imphal, April 01 2009:
Though the Union Planning Commission had released an unprecedented amount of Rs 550 crores as Special Plan Assistance in the 2008-09 fiscal, a huge amount of the fund is still in the Government account with no works taken up.
A reliable source informed The Sangai Express that the earmarked amount was released by the Planning Commission in the last fiscal but some Engineering Departments had not even fully started utilising the allocated fund.
The Chief Secretary is expected to convene a review meeting to discuss the non-utilisation of the money released earlier, said the source and added that the Plan size of the State for the next fiscal will be worked out after the Lok Sabha election.
