Imphal, December 24 2009: A woman activist of the proscribed KCP has been arrested by a team of Imphal west district police commandos from Thangmeiband area near DM college gate at around 11.30 am today.

Identifying the UG activist as Maibam Ongbi Mema Devi (37) w/o M Yaima Singh of Tripura Dalai but presently a resident of Takyel Khongbal Mayai Leikai, a statement issued by the SSP (IW) L Kailun quoted Mema as disclosing that she had been working under the command of S/S James of KCP since October this year.

Two demand letters of Rs 5 lakh each addressed to Dr Ibomcha Singh of Babupara and Dr Bilasini Devi of Thangmeiband, and signed by one Lanchenba Meitei of the KCP's Central Finance Council have been recovered from Mema, from whom a Nokia mobile handset has also been seized, the SSP added.

On the other hand, Imphal East District Police Commandos reported arrested two women cadres of the proscribed PREPAK from near Wangkhei Pujah Lampak at around 3.45 pm on December 22 .

Identifying the arrested women cadres as Laisham Bembem alias Dina (23) d/o late Laishram Mangi of Churachandpur Zou Veng Leikai and Laishram Indu alias Ton (22) d/o late Laishram Tomba of Churachandpur Tuibong but presently staying at Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi, SP of Imphal East District Th Radheshyam Singh informed that on verification, the two arrested women cadres disclosed that they joined PREPAK in October 2008 and they were involved in extortion of money from general public, Govt officials and businessmen as party fund.

In another statement, the SP also conveyed the information about the arrest of two MNRF cadres by a combined team of Imphal East District Police Commandos and personnel of 28 Assam Rifles from the gate of Andro Police station at around 4 pm on December 21 .

The arrested MNRF cadres have been identified as Lucas Chingthungnao (26) s/o C Barnabas of Lairam Khunou, Ukhrul district and Ngalingam Shimprui (24) s/o Yarleo Shimprui, also of Laishram Khullen.

On verification, they disclosed joining of the outfit in March this year through one Ahao Tangkhul, a self styled chief finance secretary of MNRF.

The SP further informed that at around 3 pm of December 31, Imphal East Police Commandos also arrested one UNLF cadre later identified as Moirangthem Bobo Singh (48) s/o M Gulamjat Singh of Taret Khul Mamang Leikai from Top Khongnangkhong.

On verification, Bobo disclosed that he joined UNLF through one S/S major M Devan and he was involved in the killing of Laishram Ibocha Singh and his daughter Laishram Ibemchaobi on April 10 this year at Uyumpok Mamang Leikai as well as Chanamthabam Jayanta of Pukhao Laipham on April 14 this year, the SP added.

Meanwhile, acting on credible information, Imphal West District Police Commandos have reportedly arrested one MPA (UNLF) activist from Thangmeiband Dewan Leikai at around 2.30 pm yesterday.

In a statement, Senior SP of Imphal West District L Kailun identified the arrested activist as S/S Sgt Sinam Anand Singh alias Babu (22) s/o S Mani Singh of Lamshang Thamnapokpi Leikai (army no.2072) and conveyed that on spot verification, Anand disclosed that he is working under the command of one S/S capt Pathou of MPA (UNLF).
