Jit cinema (video parlour) in Lamsang has been forced to shut down for screening X rated and adult films today by DESAM and has resolved to encompass all cinema halls/parlours scre-ening such films by the prohibition.
Talking to reporters today at its head office, deputy secretary of Education and Academic Atmosphere , K C Ibomcha informed that complains of screening adult movies after the interval of Manipuri film ' Nangna Mama Oibiyu' which was being watched by many families altogether including women and children were reported yesterday at the head office of DESAM.
The volunteers of DESAM today confirmed the complaint while talking to the proprieter and machine operator of the hall, added the deputy secretary.
He further informed that the projector of the hall and many other CDs have been confiscated by the volunteers, mentioned Ibomcha.
The machine operator has been identified as Potshangbam Premjit of Khagempalli Panthak and the hall was being run by his brother identified as Jit.
The machine operator was produced in front of the reporters along with the confiscated CDs and projector.
In his statement, Premjit disclosed that the incident occurred as he inserted wrong CD by mistake.
Moreover, DVDs, VCDs and cassettes of such immoral and restricted films were confiscated from video parlours at Khuman Lampak and Sangakpham areas, informed Ibomcha while intimating the proprietors of parlours from where the CDs were confiscated today to surrender to DESAM by tomorrow.
Further the deputy secretary informed that all video parlours in different parts of Manipur screening such immoral movies have been banned with immediate effect keeping in view of the moral corruption caused by such movies. The confiscated CDs have been consigned to flames today by DESAM.
